The Best of Stephen King (According to Me)

I am a huge Stephen King fan. For several months that was all I would read. Some of his books are massive, so it took a big chunk of my time. Here are a few of my favorites.

1. 11/22/63

What if JFK was never assassinated? Would it bring about terror? Or would it bring world peace? You’ll have to read to find out.

Ok. Ok. Classic King fans please don’t kill me. This is the first King book that I ever read. I was amazed by the thought that was put into it. It definitely made me want to read more.

2. The Shining

Jack Torrance is the new caretaker for the historic Overlook Hotel. He will be trapped all through the winter with his family and a few unexpected guests. After all, what could go wrong?

I loved The Shining. It is so atmospheric and creepy. You could literally feel Jack going crazy. The suspense was great.

3. IT

When kids start getting killed in Derry, Maine The Loser’s Club begins to investigate. Years later they come back to fulfill a pact they made when they were teenagers. If IT came back they would put an end to it once and for all.

Can I be part of The Loser’s Club? Minus all the killer clown business? I lovedddd the characters in this. It believe they are some of King’s best.

4. Salem’s Lot

Small town America has been invaded by an evil unimaginable. Slowly everyone in town is turning into vampires. Will anyone stay safe?

Stephen King wrote the best vampires. They are everything vampires are supposed to be. I was a preteen during the Twilight craze. I will always love vampires whether they are good or evil.

5. Doctor Sleep

The sequel to The Shining. Danny Torrance is all grown up and he is haunted by the demons of his past. There are new terrors awaiting him and it’s just the beginning.

Ok. Another controversial opinion, but I loved the follow up. I liked older Danny even better than young Danny. I also loved the antagonist, Rose the Hat.

Those are my favorite Stephen King books, so far. I imagine the list will change and shift when I read more of his work. Some people don’t like his newer stuff, but I think he is just as creative as ever. In my opinion, he will always be one of the best horror writers.
